NHTI Women’s Soccer Blanks Unity in YSCC Championship

CONCORD, New Hampshire (NHTI) -– NHTI women's soccer topped Unity College Sunday morning, 3-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference College championship. The Lynx completed undefeated YSCC schedule finishing 16-1 on the season. The Rams finish 6-5-1 for the year. 

The Lynx opened up the scoring on a goal from Ashley Nichols (Epping, N.H.) in the 22nd minute. Nichols received a cross from Shannon Hart (Swanzey, N.H.) from six yards out and fired a shot off a Unity defender into the left side of the net. Hart struck 14 minutes later when she sent a cross over the middle that was redirected into the net from a Unity defender. 

The second half saw few shots and a lot of midfield play until Celia Sartwell (Hooksett, N.H.) received a pass from Shannon hart down the sideline and scored on a shot to the far post. 

Hart finished the game with a goal and a pair of assists to earn tournament MVP and Lynx defensive back Lexi Duclos (Epsom, N.H.) earned tournament's outstanding defensive player. Rams forward Sam Jalkowski (Delanco, N.J.) earned the tournament's outstanding offensive player for her hat trick in the semifinals. 

The tournament win gives the NHTI Lynx and bid into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's national tournament November 10 through the 14th in Virginia Beach, VA.
