Munson and Wade Corral Mustangs in 6-0 Rout

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team blanked the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) 6-0 in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

First-year Callie O'Brien (South Portland, Maine) opened up scoring with her team-leading 10th goal of the season near the 20-minute mark. First-year Jordan Chase (Topsham, Maine) followed suit with a score of her own before the first half expired.

The second half was the Munson and Wade Show, as sophomore Samantha Munson (South Portland, Maine) and Madelyn Wade (Brunswick, Maine) combined for four goals and two assists to put the SeaWolves up by a convincing 6-0 margin.

The SMCC offense tallied 41 shots—its largest total of the season. The CMCC attack was limited to 11 shots landing only four on frame.

SeaWolves' goalkeeper Shea Couture (Rochester, N.H.) pitched her fifth clean sheet of her rookie campaign as SMCC rolled to its fifth win of the fall (5-3-1 overall, 3-1-1 YSCC). The Mustangs slip to 5-4 overall.

Head Coach Julia Cyr reflected, "This was an important showing for us, getting back in a groove offensively coming off a draw with Unity. Now a result against Machias on Saturday will put us in a position to have success in playoffs."
