Week 1 YSCC Player of the Week Awards

(YSCC) - Yankee Small College Conference is proud to announce fall sports Players of the Week. Here are this week's winners, including two USCAA Player of the Week nods.

GOLF
Zach Tremblay | Southern Maine CC
Zach Tremblay of SMCC is this week's YSCC and USCAA DII Golfer of the Week. Zach played the #1 position in both rounds and led his team to two first-place finishes with individual scores of 73 and 78.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Julia Roemer | ACPHS | SY | F
Julia Roemer, a senior forward at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, is this week's YSCC Player of the Week and the USCAA DII Women's Soccer Player of the Week. Julia had eight goals and two assists in two games played.

MEN'S SOCCER
Charles Middleton | ACPHS | SY | F
Charles Middleton, a senior forward at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, is this week's YSCC Player of the Week. Charles had two goals and five assists in two games played.

BASEBALL
Owen Bernier | NHTI | FY | IF/OF/P
Owen came in for long relief duties to make his college debut. He pitched effective shutdown baseball against one of the better offenses in the conference and ended with a 0.00 ERA.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Wesley Burkit | Paul Smith's College | FR
Wes Burkit has begun her collegiate career in stellar fashion. Wes ran a 21:31 for an 11th place finish at the SUNY Plattsburgh's 40th Anniversary Cardinal Classic behind a stacked field that included 8 runners from St. Lawrence University. In the second week of the collegiate season, Wes finished the 5K at the Vermont Technical College Maple Syrup Challenge in a time of 21:54. This was good enough for 18th place in a race dominated by NCAA D-III power Middlebury and D-II St. Mike's. Fourteen of the seventeen runners ahead of Wes were from these two strong programs. Wes is studying Environmental Science at Paul Smith's College.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Michael Crosby | York County CC | FR
In Saturday's meet at Maine Augusta, Michael competed in his first college cross-country meet. Michael finished with a time of 21:13.4 in the 5K. Crosby joins the Hawks after an impressive high school career at Noble High School. The 2022 graduate was on the cross country team as well as both indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Crosby was a three sport captain in his senior year and earned both Most Improved Runner, as well as the Hard Work, Pays Off Award. He was on the National Honors Society as well as awarded Noble Spirit recognition. In his spare time, he enjoys running, hanging out with friends, and bowling.
