Auburn, ME ~ The Paul Smith's College women's basketball team faced a challenging weekend against Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) conference opponents, dropping both games after sluggish starts. Despite flashes of brilliance, the Bobcats couldn't overcome early deficits in either contest on Saturday against Central Maine CC or Sunday against the University of Maine at Augusta.
Game 1: Central Maine CC 94, Paul Smith's College 50
The Bobcats opened their weekend with a tough loss to Central Maine CC. Holly Bagley (Bloomfield, NY) led the offense with 11 points, while Jillian York (Largo, FL) contributed 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds, showcasing her consistency on the boards. Finnley Jacobson (Vergennes, VT) and Carley Simmons (Heuvelton, NY) also stepped up defensively, each pulling down six rebounds.
Game 2: University of Maine Augusta 73, Paul Smith's College 52
In their second matchup, the Bobcats battled hard but couldn't close the gap against the UMA Moose. DaVyne Johnson (Phoenix, AZ) and Delaney Curley (Montrose, PA) provided offensive firepower, each scoring 14 points. On the boards, Jordan Louis (Crystal, NM) and Holly Bagley tied for the team high with eight rebounds apiece. Bagley added to her all-around effort with four assists and three steals.
Up next, Paul Smith's College will look to bounce back on the road this week as they travel to take on YSCC opponent Vermont State University at Randolph on Wednesday, December 11th, with tip-off scheduled for 5:00PM.
