
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball cruised to an 84-31 victory over Word of Life in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
SUMMARY
The Seawolves came out strong and didn't look back, shooting 40.5% from the field while holding Word of Life to 20.3% shooting. Hannah Thorsen (Kittery, Maine) led the charge with a stellar shooting performance scoring 19 points on 8-11 shooting, while grabbing 12 rebounds to secure a double-double. Jade Trueman (Sanbornville, N.H.) recorded 9 points and 12 rebounds.
Ashley Mullen (Oakland, Maine) added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Taylor Renna (Pembroke, N.H.) provided a scoring spark off the bench with 13 points on 5-10 shooting, including three three-pointers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SMCC wasted no time, jumping out to a 26-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, setting the tone with defensive pressure and efficient ball movement.
The second quarter saw SMCC continue where they left off, adding another 27 points by capitalizing on their second-chance opportunities.
The Second half of the game saw a push back from the Huskies, however, the Seawolves offense answered with a scoring spree of thier own cementing the victory.

SMCC (11-9, 8-4 YSCC) returns to action at Northern Essex on February 4th. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30PM.
