NHTI topples Herons by 15

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (YSCC) -- Big time in state battle as NHTI took on Great Bay.

The fireworks started early as each team's star hit big shots. NHTI's Dante Ramos and Great Bay's Tyler White were both named YSCC All-Conference players earlier in the day, and their performance didn't do anything to diminish those awards.

The teams were pretty much even through the first few minutes. The Herons Tyler White drilled two early three balls to keep Great Bay close.

NHTI answered by going on a 17 -4 run, mostly on the back of Ramos. Ramos was a beast on the boards, defensively and nailing a couple of big shots.

The Lynx went to half time with a 66-43 lead.

The Herons weren't quite done yet, storming out of the gates at the start of the second.

White and Kenny Torres helped Great Bay go on a 10-0 run to open the half. White finished with a game-high 38 points. Fellow Heron Colby Wilson added 16.

NHTI's Ramos was just too much in the second half, finishing with a double-double. Ramos scored 28 points and had 10 rebounds in the 109-94 win over the Herons. The Lynx Javan Parkinson also had a double-double, scoring 17 points and ripping 10 boards.

NHTI moves on the the semi finals to be played Saturday.
