NHTI beats CSJ to play for YSCC Men's Championship

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (YSCC) -- NHTI is the first men's team of the night to move on to the YSCC Men's Elite 8 Championship game Sunday at the HUB Gymnasium Sunday afternoon. 

#1 ranked NHTI beat #5 ranked College of St Joseph 83 - 74 for a chance to win the YSCC Championship. 

The first half of basketball was hard fought, physical battle.

NHTI used an 11 - 3 run to get some breathing room in the first half. 

NHTIs Dante Ramos and Raikwon Rodrigues each scored 8 to help the Lynx to a 10 point halftime lead. 

15 minutes left in the game, Ramos made a nice layup to put the Lynx up 10. Nice steal by Marius Turner and an emphatic slam by J'Quavious Thurman sent NHTI to a 13.

The Fighting Saints lived up to their name by chipping away at the lead. Antonio Brown drained a big three ball that closed the gap to 8 points with just over 2 minutes left. 

CSJ got it to 7 with under a minute left, but they could not get any closer as Ramos and Thurman were too much to handle.

Thurman led the Lynx with 15 points in the win. Ramos had 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Darren White led all scorers for the Fighting Saints with 18 points.

The Lynx will tip off against the winner of SMCC/CMCC Sunday afternoon at 2PM.
