MEN'S SEMIFINAL ACTION

#1 Central Maine CC Mustangs v #4 Southern Maine CC SeaWolves

Central Maine CC (CMCC) maintained its strong record with a 4-2 victory over Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) on November 2, 2024, in Auburn, ME. CMCC opened with three first-half goals, overcoming an early lead by SMCC's Tim Eulenberger, who scored in the 5th minute with an assist from Louis Sehr. CMCC's Mikel Soto quickly equalized, followed by goals from Ivan Domingues and Stephan Samba, giving them a 3-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, SMCC's William Perry scored unassisted, reducing the gap to 3-2. However, Domingues added his second goal of the game in the 75th minute, assisted by David Nzuzi, sealing CMCC's victory.

#2 Paul Smith's College Bobcats v #3 Word of Life Huskies

Paul Smith's jumped out to a lead thanks to a brace from the conference's leading goal scorer, Joseph Mathews. The 6'6" forward from Chattanooga, TN curled a left-footed shot under the crossbar in the 7th minute to make it 1-0, before finding the side netting three minutes later for his 29th goal of the campaign.

It stayed that way through the end of the first half with YSCC goalkeeper of the year Raphael Cournoyer making several fine stops to preserve WOLBI's lead. The Bobcats looked to break down the Huskies defensive formation in the second half but still trailed past the hour mark.

That changed with two nearly identical goals in the span of 60 seconds. YSCC All-Conference selection Liam Curthoys delivered two perfect free kicks into the box. The first one, from the right wing, glanced off the fingertips of Cournoyer before Nick Grover knocked it into the back of the net in the 64th minute. The second came from the left wing, and found Kagan Hance. The center back from Chester, VT, headed it home to tie the match at 2-2 and set off celebrations on Paul Smith's sideline.

Word of Life revved its offense back into gear and came close to a winner. Malachi Vasquez knocked home a rebound in the box with under ten minutes to play only for the flag to go up for offside. The referees were also called into action after what looked like a foul in the box would give Mathews a penalty kick, only for the center referee and the assistant to call simultaneous fouls on both the forward and the defender, resulting in a drop ball for the goalkeeper.

Paul Smith's would complete the comeback with five minutes remaining. A long ball over the top set Grover one-on-one against defender Tiago Cardin. The forward held off the center back and held his nerve sending a low finish past Cournoyer to give the Bobcats a dramatic 3-2 victory.
