COLLEGE OF ST JOSEPH EARNS 76-68 WIN OVER SUNY DELHI

(CSJ) -- After losing their first game of the season, College of St. Joseph Women's Basketball got back to their winning ways with a 76-68 victory over the SUNY Delhi Broncos on Wednesday, Nov. 30. The win improves the Lady Saints overall record to 5-1.

St. Joe's came out of the gates firing on all cylinders Wednesday night. They played uptempo team basketball and were able to take a decisive 24-8 lead after the first quarter. The Broncos fought back, making it a close game in the end, but the Lady Saints were able to build enough of a cushion early in the contest to help secure the victory.

The Lady Saints showed their ability to share the ball and get contributions from a number of players on the roster. NaKeeya Goodman-Boddie, Sabrina Llanes, and Markell Marquez each led the team with 16 points apiece. Jacobie Maupin-Alexander also added 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Samiaya Salley led the way for the Broncos and helped her team come close against the Lady Saints in the second half. She had a game-high 23 points on 7 for 17 shooting from the field. Salley was ultra-aggressive throughout the game, going to the free throw line 12 times and converting on nine of her attempts.

The game was hard fought but it was not the most efficient display, with the Lady Saints and the Broncos committing 28 and 29 turnovers respectively. Both teams played scrappy basketball but CSJ was able to make just a few more plays down the stretch to come away with an impressive victory.

The Lady Saints will be back in action when they face Unity College on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. The game is being hosted at Vermont Technical College.
