VB: Bobcats win dual straight set victories at home Saturday

PAUL SMITH'S, NY (PSC) – The Paul Smith's College women's volleyball team won both contests in straight sets against visiting opponents on Saturday.   Joining the Lady Bobcats at the Saunders Gymnasium on a beautiful late summer day were New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) and Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC).

In the 1st game against the NHTI Lynx the Bobcats won three straight sets (25-23, 25-9 and 25-23) with solid performances from several key players.  Sydney Krompasky (sophomore, middle hitter) led the Bobcats with 5 kills on 14 swings for a .214 hitting percentage along with 2 solid blocks to shut down the visiting conference opponents NHTI.  Alli Cherry (sophomore, outside hitter) had 8 kills on 31 swings for a .161 hitting percentage along with 2 serve aces and 11 digs.  Freshman Jordan Louis also had a solid performance serving up 3 aces for points and 11 digs while registering 5 kills for a hitting percentage of .167.

The Bobcats found their rhythm early in their second match of the day against the HVCC Vikings.  They dominated play and once again won in three straight sets (25-12, 25-9, 25-23) to remain undefeated on the early season.  It was more of the same from one player in particular as Paul Smith's College were led by Alli Cherry, who finished the game with a hitting percentage of .529 on 9 kills with 17 attempts and no errors. Truly the MVP of the match, she also added 9 points for aces to go along with 12 digs. Another important player for the Bobcats was Jordan Louis, who turned in a good performance hitting .250 on 5 kills while swinging on 20 attempts and recording 2 service aces.

When asked about his team's play on the day, Head Coach Ritt Roberge voiced his pleasure, noting that the group played well together as a unit.  Next match for Paul Smith's College will be this Thursday, September 16 at 7pm in the Saunders Gymnasium versus Word of Life Bible Institute.  Go Bobcats!
