The Clippers lost a hard-fought battle to the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves 77-81 on December 3rd in Yankee Small College Conference North divisional match.
This game was constantly back-and-forth, in fact, the lead changed 12 times throughout. Dave Kalmbach lead the Clippers in scoring with 23 points and 6 assists. Bryan Kalmbach came off the bench for Machias and contributed 11 points. Sonny Otutu also scored 11. For the Seawolves, the top scorer was Anthony Lobor with 18 points.
The difference was made late in the second half. The Seawolves broke out and scored 7 points in a row, the Clippers did not score during this span and would not regain the lead. This run gave SMCC the advantage and ultimately the win.
The Clippers are now 4-3 overall and 4-2 in conference. They will face the Seawolves again on January 21st in Machias.
