CMCC and UMA to meet in YSCC Women's Championship

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (YSCC) – The YSCC Final Four weekend kicked off at Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Saturday, March 1.

#1 UMA Moose v #4 SMCC SeaWolves

In the day's first game, the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) Moose secured their spot in the championship game with a commanding 82-67 victory over the SMCC SeaWolves.

The Moose established an early lead, ending the first quarter ahead 22-15. They maintained their momentum into halftime, leading 43-34. A strong third quarter saw UMA extend their advantage to 64-50, a gap SMCC couldn't bridge in the final period.

UMA's offense was spearheaded by Alisyn Alley, with 25, and Bella Petrocci delivered an impressive 19 points off the bench. Her performance provided a crucial boost and showcased the team's depth.

The SeaWolves were led by Ashley Mullen with 23. 

With this victory, the Moose advance to the YSCC Championship Game scheduled for Sunday. They will face the winner of the other semi-final matchup, aiming to clinch the conference title.

#2 CMCC Mustangs v #3 Paul Smith's College Bobcats

Central Maine CC powered past Paul Smith's College in the YSCC Women's Final Four semi-final, securing a dominant 90-65 victory and advancing to the championship game against UMA on Sunday at noon.

The Mustangs started strong, taking a 20-13 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 45-29 at halftime. Paul Smith's kept battling, but Central Maine's explosive fourth quarter sealed the win.

Ella Lavigne led the way for Central Maine with an outstanding 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals, while Ava Smith added 10 points and 7 rebounds. The Mustangs showcased their depth, with Cassie Ririnui contributing 11 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

For Paul Smith's, Holly Bagley and Jordan Louis each posted 21 points, with Bagley adding 9 rebounds and 6 assists in a strong all-around effort.

With this victory, Central Maine CC moves on to face UMA in the YSCC Championship Game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
